HEALTH FUTURES FORUM

A New Future

Health Futures Forum: Shaping the Future of Health is a three-day virtual event for Member States, partners and stakeholders in the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific Region to identify the futures we want to see achieved for the health, well-being, and health systems in the Region and how to identify them.

Better health for everyone, everywhere.

HEALTH FUTURES FORUM

Shaping the future of health

Before the onset of the pandemic, foresight and strategic planning were high on the agenda of WHO in the Western Pacific Region. In October 2019, the WHO Regional Committee endorsed For the Future: Towards the Healthiest and Safest Region – a collective vision for WHO’s work in the Western Pacific. By endorsing this vision, the 37 countries and areas in the Region committed to putting the future up front and to further future-proofing their health systems.

COVID-19 made foresight and strategic planning even more important: Whoever you are, and wherever you live, we all remain at risk. We must keep preparing for what may come.

The Health Futures Forum will explore how governments in the Western Pacific can use strategic foresight to envision and use the potential futures facing them to drive changes in their health systems. This will better equip those systems to address complex challenges and uncertainties and achieve the highest levels of health and well being for their populations.

Sessions will provide an opportunity for discussions on four key topics:

Society
Technology & Innovation
Economy
Health
